FAQs: Your Room to Move Questions, Answered
Thinking about renting a portable room but not sure how it all works? Or where to start? You’ve come to the right place! Whether you're looking for a spare bedroom, a dedicated home office or a place to truly unwind, there’s lots to consider. We’ve pulled together a list of some of the questions our customers usually ask before renting one of our portable rooms.
How quickly can I get a room?
Faster than you'd think! We're building new rooms every week and we can have yours delivered within a few days of the paperwork being signed. That said, we'd always recommend booking in advance as there's typically a waiting list.
Where do you deliver?
We currently deliver rooms to rent anywhere within a 3–4-hour radius of Melbourne, Sydney and most recently Adelaide. Live a little further out? Reach out to us and we'll see what we can do.
How does delivery actually work?
Our team will be onsite when your room is delivered to help you get set up. We’ve made setup as fast and fuss-free as possible, each room can be delivered and fully installed in just a few hours. No digging required, no footings. Just minimal disruption to your property.
To deliver your room, we need clear access of 2.8m wide and 3.5m high from the road to where you’d like the room to sit. If you don’t have clear access just let us know! It’s possible to lift the room using a crane truck or larger crane.
How much space do I need?
The ground needs to be reasonably level and stable. As a rough guide:
The Nook Room has a floor plan of 3.0m x 2.4m, allowing it to fit into tight spots. It needs around 4m x 3m of clear space.
The Studio Room has a floor plan of 4.2m x 2.4m plus a 0.9m front deck. It needs around 6m x 3m of clear space.
The Retreat Room, fitted with a fully-equipped bathroom and 0.9m front deck, has a floor plan of 4.8m x 2.4m and needs around 6m x 3.5m of clear space.

What's already inside the room?
All our rooms come with split-system reverse-cycle air conditioning, insulation, blinds, windows, lighting and power points, so it's genuinely ready to move in to. With a four-star energy rating, you’ll get year-round comfort built in from day one.
How long can I lease a room for?
Rooms are leased for a minimum term of 6 months, then you can keep your room for as long as you like with a month-by-month contract. If you’re looking to finish your lease after the initial 6 months, just give us a month’s notice in writing and email us at pickmeup@roomtomove.com.au to arrange for your room to be collected.
How much does it cost?
Our rooms cost $165 a week for the Nook Room, $195 for the Studio Room and $290 for the Retreat Room with Ensuite - all billed fortnightly in advance by Direct Debit. Delivery within the Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide metro areas start from $300 and regional pricing varies by distance.
For the upfront costs, we’ll require a $500 bond, the delivery fee and your first rent payment to secure the room.
