Demystify Delivery Day: How the Team Delivers a Room to Your Backyard
Ever wondered how a room gets into your backyard? Side gates, pools, tight driveways - our team navigates all of it every week, using a proven delivery process to get our portable rooms into any space. From access requirements to what to expect on the day, this blog demystifies the backyard room delivery process.
How the room gets there
For most deliveries, we use a 4WD ute and car transport trailer to tow the room right up to (or as close as possible to) its new home. If the trailer can't get all the way there, our team switches to a dolly wheel system to help with the final step. Our rooms range from 7.5m² up to 11.5m², and standard delivery needs clear access of at least 2.8m wide and 3.5m high from the road through to where the room will sit.
How a crane solves tight access
Got a fence, carport or house in the way? No problem! It’s time to take the delivery to new heights. When the width or height access doesn’t stack up, our network of trusted crane providers are on hand to lift the prefab pods over any obstacles. With crane delivery starting from $700 upwards, which depends primarily on the distance travelled, this is the perfect option for getting your pod home, no matter what’s standing in the way.
How we assess your site first
Before any of this is locked in, we kindly ask you to send through the delivery address, as well as some photos or a quick video of the route in. We then cross-check that with Google Maps and specialist assessment software to confirm clearances and flag problem areas - sometimes prompting a follow-up request like any extra measurements or trimming back of trees. If access still can't be confirmed remotely, we'll arrange a site visit to nail down the best position and what we can do to make it work.
Ground, power and gas
Our portable rooms can sit on soil, gravel or concrete, as long as the site is well drained so the ground doesn't shift underneath it. Minimal slope and minor unevenness are also important to check, though this is easily corrected on the day with concrete or timber packers. Once the ground's sorted, powering the room is just as simple - a standard 10-amp extension cord will do the trick, and our team tests the split system and every power point before finishing up. The one exception is our Retreat Rooms, which also require 2 x 9kg gas bottles to run the hot water system.
What delivery day looks like
Once the room is on site, setup only takes around 1–2 hours! With delivery starting from $300 (or from $700 if a crane is required) getting your room up and running is as simple as it is affordable.
