How Springs Medical Used a Room to Move IsoPod to Continue Safe, In-Person Care

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, medical practices across the country faced an unprecedented challenge: how to provide essential, in-person care while keeping staff and patients safe. For Springs Medical — a busy, privately owned clinic operating in Daylesford — finding a way to maintain face-to-face appointments for patients with respiratory symptoms was critical.

Enter the Room to Move IsoPod!

Springs Medical has now been using one of our large portable rooms for over three years, and it’s become an indispensable part of their operations.

We spoke to clinic General Manager, Emma, to learn more about how the IsoPod has supported their team, patients and wider community.

Supporting Safe Patient Care from Day One

At the height of the pandemic, Springs Medical needed a separate space that allowed GPs to see patients with cold, flu, fever or rash symptoms, without the risk of infection to others in the main clinic.

“The IsoPod provides a separate consulting space for our clinicians to support patients with respiratory symptoms, rashes and other potentially infectious symptoms,” Emma explains. “This ensures that potentially infectious patients are still seen, while protecting others, people never know who may be immuno-compromised in the waiting area.”

By creating an isolated, flexible space that functions as a fully equipped consultation room, the IsoPod helped Springs Medical continue to deliver care without compromise.

A Long-Term Solution with Lasting Benefits

More than three years on, the IsoPod remains a key part of the clinic’s day-to-day operations. Patients flagged during screening calls for respiratory symptoms are booked into dedicated appointments in the IsoPod, with many waiting safely in their cars until called in.

“The IsoPod continues to provide a key service for our community and protects our staff and patients. Without it, patients might have had to rely on urgent care centres or telehealth appointment."

Designed to Suit a Medical Setting

From sliding doors to durable flooring and a climate-controlled interior, the IsoPod’s practical design has made it a natural fit in a medical context.

“The sliding door, windows, flooring and split system all provide appropriate access and amenities for a consulting space,” said Emma.

“It was a real gamechanger for us during the COVID-19 pandemic and we continue to see the benefits of this separate space for our clinicians, our patients and our community.”

Looking Ahead

Springs Medical continues to utilise the IsoPod daily and has even considered purchasing the structure outright. With patient safety, continuity of care and operational flexibility all top priorities, the room has proven its value again and again.
